Making Decisions with Data
Global MBA course
Description:
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of data analysis for business and economic applications. Participants learn how to visualize, explore, and describe data as well as to draw data-based inferences by applying basic statistical and machine learning methods in order to evaluate business and economic-related research questions. They will be acquainted with an adequate understanding of the necessary tools, such as probability calculus, hypothesis testing, or linear regression, enabling them to apply these to various case studies for empirically examining models of economic theory as well as for creating quantitative diagnosis and predictions of current real-world situations and for deriving recommendations for action. Data analysis is conducted through statistical packages most common in practice. Course performance will be evaluated through the completion of brief quizzes, case studies, the preparation of an empirical research paper, and accompanying presentations.
